Calvary Captain Countdown – 11 days

November 9, 2010

After her friend Cindy Schwarz urged Virginia Hume to go on a tour of Calvary, Virginia “felt compelled to help… Once you’ve been there, how can you not?”

Although Virginia has sponsored her daughters in Help the Homeless walks at their school each year, this will be Virginia’s first year walking herself. She plans to make this experience a family affair too –  “I am bringing my daughters, 11 and 9, to walk with me, and I am looking forward to their witnessing what is on great display at this event: our community’s support for and commitment to the homeless.”

Virginia is a bit of celebrity, and not just because she’s one of Calvary’s newest Board members…“If you Google me, you might get the notion that I’m an actress.” She spent a few seconds on the silver screen playing the part of “Minion One” in an independent political satire a friend of hers made called Below the Beltway. Even with only one six-word line, “it was an absolute blast, and I got an IMDb page out of it!”

With so many reasons why she supports Calvary, if she had to pick just one thing to let potential Calvary supporters know, Virginia wishes more people knew just how much Calvary “treasures their supporters and volunteers.”
